SpartanNash Announces Capital Investment in Dickinson, North Dakota,
one of the fastest growing regional markets in the nation
SpartanNash to acquire two supermarkets and develop a third supermarket over the next year
Grand Rapids, Michigan Nov. 22, 2013 -- SpartanNash (Nasdaq- SPTN) – SpartanNash is expanding its presence in one of the fastest growing regional markets in the United States. Over the next 12 months, SpartanNash intends to make significant investments in Dickinson, North Dakota by acquiring and remodeling two supermarkets currently under the Dan’s Supermarket banner and building one new supermarket. The strategic initiative is intended to further strengthen SpartanNash’s retail presence in this fast growing region of the country.
The new supermarket will be constructed in the West Ridge Development on 10 acres of property acquired from Roers Development Inc.
Every department of the new supermarket will present an outstanding selection of offerings including:
• Fresh produce presentation with a variety of fruits and vegetables from around the world
• “Welcome Center” offering complimentary coffee and popcorn to consumers
• Fresh Bakery featuring fresh made breads, cakes and pastries.
• Fresh floral display with bouquets, arrangements and roses
• Fresh meat and seafood
• Expansive service deli and Fresh Food to Go
The project also includes an attached full liquor store featuring wine and beer and spirits.
In addition, there will be a twelve bay fuel center and a 4,000 square foot convenience store.
In addition to a full supermarket variety and selection, the store will be value-centered, offering Savings Zones, Baskets of Values, hundreds of weekly ad specials, and special offers to help stretch a consumer’s weekly food budget.
Construction on the new 55,000 square foot project is expected to begin in Spring, 2014 with completion expected late that same year.
