Employee interview

Elisabeth Thoennes

Accounts payable

roers management

get to know her:

1. Introduce yourself (Name, Title, and Length of Time with Roers):

  • My name is Elisabeth Thoennes, I have been with Roers for just over 6 months, and I am an accountant.

2. What does a day in your role entail?

  • The first 15 days of the month are a grind, working on bank reconciliations, doing billings, finishing AP, then the second half of the month is playing catch up, sending out financials and doing some budget to actual analysis for each property.

3. What is your favorite core value and why?

  • Community- I think giving back is what really keeps a community healthy and growing. So being willing and able to use one’s talents to help better each other is how a community really elevates itself.

4. What is a fun fact about you outside of work?

  • I have the bad habit of thinking that I can learn how to do anything with Pinterest or YouTube. I have a lot of halfway created projects and abandoned hobbies, that I gave up on because I was frustrated that I couldn’t figure out how to do it from one video or article. Some examples of these are- refurbishing furniture, upholstery, juicing, guitar, landscaping, dog grooming, real estate, french, wigs, rewiring (no comment on how dangerous that one was), and many more.

  • 5. Last but not least, what is your favorite part of your position or working for Roers?

  • I appreciate how I am lead. I feel like my boss trusts in my abilities while pushing me to be a better accountant and I always feel like I am valued and understood.

She has found ways for us to highlight/market our properties in a new ways. she creates a premier experience for our residents and opportunities for future residents to rent with us.

Darin Horner

roers construction

Fargo

carpenter i

Got a chance to work closer with Darin at The Flats. I have been around him on other projects, but this one was different. I really noticed the partnership he created with the RPMR team. Very friendly and talkative daily with our team. Learned little things about him and his family! Made sure to share updates if he knew of anything and really tried to make sure he helped complete everything at the building. If he had a question, he would come find myself or Lindsey O to make sure he was completing the way we envisioned, it. If there was an adjustment needed, he just rolled with it. Really enjoyed getting to know him better and working with him.

Miguel Mercado

roers west

bismarck

lead carpenter

Miguel from day 1 has always been forthright on his abilities as a lead person. For starters Miguel is always on time, typically 15-20 mins. on the jobsite. Second of all Miguel has a very positive attitude towards the job and life in general, he is devoted to making sure all tasks given too him are executed as flawless as possible. Miguel expresses the need for everyone to work safely and efficiently on site. Miguel is just one of the many driving forces behind the success and the amount of work that gets completed on a day to day basis. Miguel is a "lead by example" type of individual which is the cornerstone of why the State Lab project has ran as smooth as it does. Miguel is very eager to promote himself to learn more about this industry and is always eager to learn, example: i have taken him under my wing and teaching Miguel how to read blueprints to become even more of a asset to Roers. Miguel is a very well adaptive individual, and is not afraid to take on any task given to him.

Nic Braun

This list started with a 100 plus items. He did this needing very little assistance. We appreciate his willingness to take the opportunity to tackle this list on his own with minimal help.

Opportunity
Dakotah has been a great addition to the RPMR team! She's a go getter and asks questions to better educate herself in her role.
Respect
Dalton works well with RPMR. Working with him on The Metropolitan has made it so smooth. He respects ua and listens to our crazy ideas and needs of the building. He faces every issue head on and is doing a great job with the team at The Metropolitan. I was grateful to be working alongside him during this building opening.
Expertise
Jared has been putting in time showing his expertise in finish carpentry. He gives tips and helps make sure the final project is done to the best of his ability.
Experiences
Matt has continued to strengthen himself. He recently took the opportunity to run and experience the Deadwood Half Marathon in June. GO Matt! We are cheering you on!
