Jim Roers, CEO
A graduate of Minnesota State College – Crookston, MN and North Dakota State University with an agriculture degree, Jim Roers formed Roers Construction in 1976 with a small trailer and a passion for construction. Jim has dedicated the last 48 plus years to building success in a business that encompasses development, construction, and property management. He recognized when Roers needed to grow and took risks by creating additional divisions. Along the way, Jim took pride in mentoring employees and empowering them to develop their skills and grow with Roers.
Building a successful business like Roers, allows Jim the opportunity to give back to the community in which he lives, as well as those in which Roers has completed projects. He prides himself on sharing his talents with organizations to achieve their goals. He has served on boards and committees for NDSU, the state of North Dakota, NDSCS, College of Saint Benedict, The Chamber, Jeremiah Program, Churches United for the Homeless, Valley Prosperity Partnership, and Dakota Medical Foundation. Jim became a pilot in 1989 and spends his spare time flying between Fargo, the Roers West office in Dickinson, and Stanton, ND where he is finally able to utilize his agriculture degree on his ranch named LC Ranch.
CEO
Shane Roers
For over 27 years, Shane Roers has been Part of Roers and a noteworthy leader in the construction industry. You may know him from his work as the President of Roers Construction, but Shane can also be credited with contributions to his volunteer work in the Dickinson community including Dickinson Outlaw Hockey, Dickinson Catholic Schools, and a variety of fundraising efforts.
Serving as President of Roers Construction, Shane takes on challenging responsibilities, such as Business Development, Owner and Subcontractor relationships and overall team development. During his tenure, his team has successfully completed several valuable projects, including Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Basin Electric Menoken Facility, Roers Hall and University of Mary Fieldhouse at the University of Mary campus, Wyoming Casing buildings in Williston and Dickinson, Martin Construction office and shop, Minot Fire Station and the Beulah Wellness Center.
As part of the Roers family, Shane began working with the company during his high school years. He learned the construction business from the ground up and following graduation, he attended The University of Minnesota – Crookston where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing. He returned to Roers as a project manager and was later promoted to senior project manager and then President.
Shane and his wife Lisa, relocated to Dickinson in 2010 to open the Roers west office. Since then, Roers has also opened offices in Bismarck and Minot.
When not working, Shane enjoys hunting, hockey, and camping with his wife and four boys.
President, Construction
Shannon Roers Jones
Shannon Roers Jones is a North Dakota native dedicated to serving the people of Fargo.
With a goal of ensuring that North Dakota remains a national economic leader, and a place where families thrive, she is focused on growing a vibrant economy throughout North Dakota and guaranteeing that government runs effectively and efficiently.
Shannon received her undergraduate degree from the College of St. Benedict. Shannon attended the University of St. Thomas, earning a master’s in business administration. After working in the real estate industry for nine years, Shannon returned to North Dakota and graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law.
Since a very young age, Shannon has been actively involved in her family’s construction and development business and has enjoyed the opportunity to return to Roers since receiving her law license.
Known for her independent leadership and commitment to public service, Shannon has been actively involved in service organizations including the United Way, Jeremiah Program, Churches United for the Homeless, Face it Together, and the F5 Program as well as being on the board of directors for the NDSU Research and Technology Park along with the Building Industry Association of the Red River Valley.
Shannon resides in south Fargo with her daughters Olivia, Kendall and Kate.
Attorney
David Wood
David Wood recently joined the Roers team as our Construction Executive. David is committed to quality, priding himself on exceptional attention to detail. He is passionate about customer service and understands a project’s success is most importantly measured by a client’s experience throughout the process.
David is a proud graduate of THE North Dakota State University where he received his Civil Engineering Degree. After graduation David spent numerous hours in the field inspecting, managing, and engineering construction projects across the entire state of North Dakota and portions of Minnesota. He is a registered professional engineer with extraordinary leadership qualities and an entrepreneurial spirit. Prior to coming to Roers, David was one of the owners of Apex Engineering Group where he assisted the company to grow from a startup firm to 70 employees over 8 years.
Determined to keep improving both professionally and personally, David always seeks opportunities to learn and grow. He has completed a 12-week Dale Carnegie Professional Development Course, was a member of Cass County Toast Masters, attended John Maxwell leadership training, continually reads personal development books, and has been striving to learn the Spanish language for the past three years with the goal to be fluent one day. David is also an active member at Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo and has volunteered for Junior Achievement, local food pantry, and YMCA.
Most times you can find David with a big smile on his face triggered by his beautiful wife, Becky, and their two amazing daughters. They spend as much time as possible together; sharing a love for the lake, basketball, golf, traveling, and working on remodeling and landscape projects.
Construction Executive
Clyde Trautmann
Serving as the President of Roers Property Management-Commercial, Clyde builds success by managing the commercial property Roers owns, as well as properties for other owners, with a sense of pride and knowledge. He didn’t happen upon this career; you might say Clyde was destined to be in property management! His career began at 18 when he purchased his first apartment building.
Clyde graduated with a degree in Business Management from Minnesota State University-Moorhead and continued working in the residential property management arena before focusing his career on the commercial side of property management. Throughout his career he has achieved National Accreditation as a Certified Apartment Manager, a Certified Maintenance Technician, and a Real Estate Broker.
In his spare time, he can be found sitting on a park bench while his wife, Jean, does some bird watching or spending time with grandchildren and bicycling.
President of Property Management Commercial
Lindsey Fischer
Lindsey Fischer joined the Roers Team as the Property Management Operations Manager in June of 2017. She came to Fargo from Brookings, South Dakota, where her and her family are from. Her previous work experience includes over 8 years at Mills Property Management.
Lindsey attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in Apparel Merchandising and a minor in business. Since moving to Fargo, Lindsey has gotten involved in the internal volunteer committees at Roers such as the Chili Feed, the Give to Grow, the United Way, and the Emerging Leaders program.
For fun, Lindsey loves to play with her two little girls, Suttyn and Raven, going to the lake, shopping, relaxing with a book, spending time outside, yoga/sculpt, concerts, travelling, and playing games. Her husband, Kyle, calls her a gamer.
One of Lindsey’s favorite parts about working at Roers is her great team. She loves being part of a team and finding efficiencies in the things they do. She appreciates that Roers is a family-orientated company that is flexible and provides a good work/life balance. We absolutely love having Lindsey on our team!
President of Property Management Residential
Heidi Knutson
Heidi has 20 years of Marketing experience. She works to ensure the mission statement for Roers, “from concept to completion, Roers is building success & stronger communities,” is a focus both within the organization and outside the company and community. Her strengths are developing campaigns, project plans, product launches and event planning. She enjoys creating lists and crossing off the completed successful tasks! She loves to promote the Roers culture and spread the great things we do in the community.
Heidi graduated from Moorhead State University Moorhead with a degree in Marketing. She also earned her CFMP designation (Certified Financial Marketing Professional).
One thing to know about Heidi is that she loves seeing a project through. From the initial vision, to brainstorming, to celebrating the successful completion as a team. She considers herself very competitive, in every aspect – sports, board games, and at work her competitiveness drives her to do the best. She loves to be a part of a team.
Heidi takes pride in being active in the community. Currently she is involved with the United Way of Cass Clay, Hawley Park Board Member, Hawley Booster Club, Rollag Lutheran Church Council Member and coaches’ youth volleyball and basketball.
During Heidi’s free time, you can find her spending time with husband, Brock and her three kids. She enjoys cheering her kids on at their sporting events, deer hunting, lake time, running, going to concerts, checking things off of her long bucket list and she always enjoys a good laugh!
Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Culture
Scott Wirth
Scott Wirth began as the Human Resources Manager at Roers in 2016, where he is responsible for Human Resources, Payroll, Safety, and the Front Desk/Office Management. He has over 22 years of HR and leadership experience. His mission is to provide superior supports to all areas of Roers, Scott and his team are focused on continually improving efficiency, consistency, teamwork and communication; creating a culture that provides for a positive work environment and opportunities for a work/life balance for everyone.
Although new to the Fargo-Moorhead area, Scott has quickly become a leader in several organizations, including the NDSCS Building Construction Technology advisory committee, Train ND workforce advisory committee, Fargo Public Schools CTE construction advisory committee, the North Dakota Recruiters Network, and the Fargo Moorhead Human Resources Association where he has been a member since arriving in Fargo. He sees the value these organizations bring from his previous experiences with similar organizations in South Dakota where he was a volunteer leader for many non-profits.
During the life part of his balance, Scott enjoys traveling, camping, theater, photography and reading.
Vice President of Human Resources
Cody Curry
Cody Curry has joined the Roers team. He currently lives in Fargo, North Dakota but his hometown is Hawley, Minnesota. When Cody is not working, you’ll find him golfing, fishing, and either partaking in sporting events or watching them.
As Controller, Cody will oversee the day-to-day accounting functions of the entities, prepare internal and external financial statements, as well as oversee financial and regulatory reporting. His work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to teamwork is pivotal for the success of the accounting department. He comes with goals of creating a team that is focused on providing accurate and timely information to owners and management and promoting an atmosphere of teamwork and support to ensure individuals feel valued.
Cody graduated from North Dakota State University and that led him to gaining experience and working at Eide Bailly, LLP as an auditor, he was excited to join the Roers team as it would be a new opportunity for him to change from public accounting.
Controller
Travis Freih
Travis joined the team as an IT Manager in January of 2021. He came to Fargo, North Dakota from Bismarck, North Dakota. When Travis is not working as an IT Manager you can find him cleaning three family cars by hand every week. Not to mention he loves spending time with family and friends and listening to hard rock music.
As Information Technology Manager of Roers, he is responsible for the planning, acquisition, deployment, support and administration of IT systems for all Roers’ offices, residential properties and any project locations that involve IT. He steps in wherever needed and makes sure the job gets done right!
Travis is a proud graduate from Bismarck State College and Northwest Technical College in East Grand Forks, MN. His degree led him to his career in the IT field where he gained experience at Eastman Kodak, Corporate Technologies, and the past 14 years worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield/Noridian. Travis loves to be involved with various sporting events. He has coached at a variety of levels in the community for basketball, football, and baseball teams.
One of Travis’ favorite things about working at Roers is how engaged every individual is when working toward a common goal. He is excited to see his goals align with the company.
