Roers and Bell Bank Partner in United Way Poverty Simulation

Roers and Bell Bank partnered to participate in kicking off their United Way Campaigns by having over 90 employees come together to participate and volunteer in the United Way Poverty Simulation. Roers Leader, Danielle Paulus, and her husband, Ken Paulus, Bell Bank team member, have the honor to be the 2019 United Way Campaign Chairs and are excited about helping raise over six million dollars that will go right back into our local community to help move the needle on big community goals.

Roers and Bell Bank both have core values focusing on community and partnership. When looking at ways to educate and engage both organizations, they wanted to find a way that would create value for our employees. “As this year’s United Way Campaign Chairs, we are excited to be able to bring Bell Bank and Roers together to educate everyone on some of the daily challenges members in our community face, the work the United Way is doing, and how we can all make a difference,” stated Danielle and Ken Paulus. Employees were invited to attend an experience which depicts real-life scenarios. This event puts into perspective what someone or a family in poverty goes through – it could be a neighbor, someone next to you in the grocery aisle or a family on your son’s soccer team. Julie Peterson Klein, EVP/Chief Culture Officer at Bell Bank shared, “What a great day!  I was honored to take part and have heard many positive comments in meetings at Bell.  This day definitely hit my heart and minds.”

Last year Roers employees invested over $15k of employee dollars into our employee campaign. Overall our company invested $60,000 dollars from our campaign and Annual Chili Feed. We are so thankful for those who believe in giving back to our community!

“Thank you to both your amazing teams for all of the effort, energy and excitement that you put in to coordinating the poverty simulation!  Our team at United Way enjoyed sharing the opportunity to learn more about individuals who face the financial challenges of living in poverty with your teammates.  We hope they found this time to be impactful and valuable,” commented Tiffany McShane, Community Engagement Director for United Way of Cass Clay.

Roers Hosts Give Back Lunch for Cullen Children’s Foundation

Roers employees recently hosted their second Give Back lunch at the Roers main office location. This lunch proceeds from this quarterly lunch were given to the Cullen Children’s Foundation. Employees vote on a charity of  their choice for proceeds to be given to from the free will luncheon. “Being part of an organization that builds stronger communities by supporting charities such as the Cullen’s Children’s Foundation is a true blessing!  I enjoy being a part of Roers, not only because I enjoy my job, but also because they care about the communities where we live and work,” said Leslie Wegner, Roers team member.

Employees come together once a quarter for this lunch which is a time for networking but more importantly to help give back to the community. The Cullen Children’s Foundation is very generous to children in this area dealing with healthcare issues. “Supporting Cullens Children’s Foundation is close to my heart as they donated funds to create a spectacular children’s play space in the new Sanford Hospital.  When my son was only 2 years old, we had a few hospital stays in the previous Sanford Hospital and we spent time in the much smaller children’s play space there.  It was a great space for my son to feel like a kid and play, even though he was in the hospital.  I can’t imagine how thankful the parents of children in the new hospital are for that new space where their kids can forget about being sick for a while,” commented Wegner.

Roers is proud to give back often to community organizations in a variety of ways. For details on our Give & Grow Committee, visit https://roers.com/about/.

10 Years of Chili

The beginning of fall not only means it’s time for pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, pumpkin patches, and football… but it also means it’s time for the Annual Roers / Keller Williams Chili Feed! What is better on a crisp autumn day than a hot bowl of chili for a good cause? We’ll help you out – nothing!

Every fall for the past 10 years, the Roers team and the Keller Williams Inspire Realty team has joined forces to host the Chili Feed with all proceeds benefiting the United Way of Cass-Clay. That’s right… 10 whole years. What a milestone!

Celebrating 10 Years

To celebrate 10 years of the Chili Feed… we decided to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever. We increased our sponsorship levels, introduced a Match Sponsor, Taracon Precast, who matched every dollar donated on the day of the event up to $5,000, and for the first time ever had raffle board prizes donated by SCHEELS. We also welcomed back our Presenting Sponsor, Bremer Bank, but with an added bonus of a Fargo INC article and our event on featured billboards around town!

We also set a goal to raise $50,000 total and surpassed it by a landslide. Thanks to our sponsors and every person who attended, we were able to raise over $69,000 for the United Way of Cass-Clay. Bringing our grand total of money raised from the Chili Feed over the past 10 years to more than $284,000. All because of our amazing community!

50 Chili Chefs

Of course the Chili Feed is about raising money for a wonderful cause, but it’s called a CHILI feed for a reason! When you show up, you are greeted by over 50 chili chefs ready to serve you their chili.

Thank you to all 50 Chili Chefs who took the time to cook their chili and serve it during the event! What’s fun about serving chili is the little competition that goes on… we run a VIP Judge contest where our VIP Judges vote on their favorite chili, as well as a People’s Choice contest. Every attendee receives a chili bean when they arrive and are get to place that bean in the jar of their favorite chili.

The chilies that win the two contests receive an amazing prize package stuffed with items donated from companies and businesses within the community.

Thank you to these businesses for their generous donations to our prize baskets:

Buffalo Wild Wings, Dakota Design Company, Fargo Force, FloatSix, Gigi’s Cupcakes, Gunderson’s Jewelers, Junkyard Brewing Company, Keller Williams Inspire Realty, Midwest Radio FM, North Star Plumbing, Royal Jewelers, Sandy’s Donuts, Suntana, Uncle Maddio’s Pizza, Vive Salon, Westside Wellness, LLC, Window Tint Pros & Automotive Accessories, & Zorbaz

Roers Hosts Give Back Lunch for Great Plains Food Bank

Roers employees hosted their first Give Back lunch recently at the Roers main office location. Employees voted on a charity of  their choice for proceeds to be given  free will luncheon. This lunch proceeds were give to the Great Plains Food Bank. “It was so fun to be apart of providing an opportunity for everyone in the office to get together to support a great cause together,” commented Madison Maides, Roers Give & Grow Committee Member.

The donations received collectively was enough to provide nearly 1,000 meals for those in need on our community. When asked about her involvment in the event, Katelyn Czichotzki, Give & Grow Committee Member stated, “I got to help put together our very first charity lunch to help out the Great Plains Food Bank. We decided to make it Fiesta themed and call it “Fiesta for the Food Bank.” I loved that we had fun with it but also got to give back while doing it. It had a bigger purpose than just a lunch break. We had a great turn out & I can’t wait to continue doing these charity lunches.”

Roers is proud to give back often to community organizations in a variety of ways. Committee members will plan a quarterly Give Back Lunch and employees will have the opportunity to vote for charity organizations in the community.
